super blt -- another good sanwhich

sandwiches have become quite a staple in my diet, and recently i ran across a recipe for a delicious one on allrecipes. its really good, and ive added in some changes i made to this recipe when i made it

BLT ---  thanks for this picture mom
--calculated to serve 2  hungry people

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 8 slices bread, toasted
  • 1/4 cup guacamole (get spicy if you can  :)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 5 lettuce leaves (spinach goes well with lettuce if you're feeling healthy)
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 or 3 chopped red potatoes
  • olive or vegetable oil

In a frying pan with a lid, fry the bacon, onions, pepper, potatoes, and any spices or herbs you wanna throw in. I also threw in some barbecue sauce after the bacon cooked a bit.  It was good, but I put the sauce in too early and it baked into a bit of a mess on the pan  :\
Spread the guacamole on 4 slices of toasted bread and the cream cheese on the remaining 4 slices. You can eat the fried potatoes and onions to the side or in the sandwich--its good either way
Arrange the lettuce, tomato, and two pieces of bacon on top of 4 slices of bread and top with the remaining slices.
This sandwich is really quite tasty, I hope you all enjoy it.

  1. Yum. It looks delish. But tomorrow is fast Sat. and I don't know if I can bear smelling bacon for 24 hrs. and not be able to go back for seconds. I'll have to wait past the weekend to give it a try.

  2. Get spicy guacamole if you can find it or if your palate can handle it?! : )

Also, you may need to specify "any spices or herbs you want to throw in" for the rest of us lay (wannabe) chefs who are salivating at the thought of these sandwiches for lunch!

And lastly, can we please discuss your choice of profile picture for a FOOD BLOG???

P.S. Please post your best recipe ever--the steak marinade. With blender adaptation.

  3. Hey rich,
Sounds great with two suggestions. Don't destroy the pure pleasure of guacamole with some cheap hot peppers! And hold the onions so that you will still be kissable come sunset. :-)

  4. Oh sweet decadence. If I make a BLT this way, Bryce will never want to go back to the original old way. I can tell this is a Carl's $6 burger look alike. Yum-o.

  5. looks like we only need to pick up some
    cream cheese
    guacamole
    onions
red potatoes (we have some sprouting regular ones, do they count?)
    and last but not least
    bacon
at the store to make this decadent thing...
(ie we only have like bread and green peppers!! how pathetic!)
